SPECIFICATIONS: D.G.K. Antiskid Coating, can be applied to any properly prepared surface, such as fiberglass, primed or painted steel, painted wood, concrete, or aluminum sealed with 2 component wash primer (primer must be applied by spray).

MIXING

Add B Component of D.G.K. Antiskid Coating into the A Component and mix thoroughly. Add 15 oz. of D.G.K. Thinner 120 per gal. set. Mix well until mixture becomes uniform. For spray application mix well. We recommend the use of a plastic paint mixer on the electric drill, and strain the product with standard size window screen to avoid any blockage to the gun . As the product is being used, if more D.G.K. Thinner 120 is required, add in small amounts. This product must be stirred every 5-1 0 minutes.

CAUTION:

Do not open B Component until ready to be mixed . The B Component must be clear. If it has a milky appearance, contact your dealer for a replacement.

SURFACE PREPARATION

UNPAINTED SURFACES:

Fiberglass: Degrease, wet-wash, dry, sand until a matte surface is obtained.

Wood: Sand surface well. Remove mildew and dust, then prime with D.G.K. PU301, using 2-3 coats, until it seals leaving a shiny surface.

Concrete: Clean surface from dirt and dust. Prime with D.G.K. PU301, using 1-3 coats, according to porosity until it seals leaving a shiny surface.

Metal: Degrease and remove all rust from surface. Immediately apply 1-2 coats of rust-proof water coating. Allow 10 days to dry if an alkyd base is used. When spraying on metal, use lower atomizing air pressure so that the Antiskid will be applied even and wet.

Polyethylene: Before applying Antiskid, surface must be fire-oxidized (propane gas).

Aluminum: Seal with 2 component wash primer (primer must be applied by spray). On our samples we use Sherwin Williams Wash Primer. P60 G2 (1 part) also catalyst reducer, R7 K44 (1 ½ parts).

NOTE: Wash primer must be stirred thoroughly just before mixing.

Any Smooth Surface: Roughen surface very well with appropriate electric tools, and clean surface well.

PAINTED SURFACES:

Remove all loose and peeling paint and lightly sand surface. For porous surfaces you will need to seal the unpainted area with D.G.K PU301 Sealer. Do not use paint remover on porous surfaces.

Fiberglass surface that has been coated with an Alkyd oil base enamel or latex type enamel must be removed before applying D.G.K. Antiskid Coating systems, as they do not adhere to Fiberglass.

If surface is coated with a polyurethane or an epoxy base, degrease, wet-wash, dry, sand until matte surface is obtained, and proceed with application.

CAUTION:

Any surface newly painted with Alkyd oil base paint, must wait 10 days, so thinner in paint can evaporate from paint film and fully cure or harden.

APPLICATION

Brush Application: Prepare surface as per instructions. Thin material with 15 oz. of D.G.K. Thinner 120 for a gal. set, stir well until mixture becomes uniform. When applying the coating by brush (any quality brush), you must dip the brush into the coating keeping in mind that you are not to remove the excess coating. Keep the brush fully saturated. Make sure that you do not put too much pressure on the brush, as the silica sand will not stay in place, and will not result in a uniform application. DO NOT OVER BRUSH. Brush lightly with short even strokes. Do not go over the painted area until completely dry. When applying first coat you may see some areas that do not seem to be covered properly. Do not try to fix them at this time. During the second coat these areas will be covered properly. You must wait a minimum of 1-2 hours between the first and second coat in 77°F (25°C) temperature, and less waiting time in higher temperatures. You must remember to stir D.G.K. Antiskid Coating often during use. During the time between the first and second coat, close the can and place it in a cooler area. If a longer time between coats is needed, place the can in the refrigerator.

Roller Application: Use a felt nap roller4" and thin paint with 18 oz. D.G.K. Thinner 120 for a gal set. Standard roller pans with a ribbed or rough surface will create an uneven distribution of non-skid particles. We therefore recommend using a smooth surface pan to thoroughly saturate the roller and remove excess paint. By fitting a piece of thin panel board inside the pan, we create a smooth surface. Pour mix material into pan, keeping material stirred at all times. It is very important that you dip roller into pan and then work roller on panel board insert. Dip again and repeat this procedure 3-4 times to create an even paint consistency on the roller. Now you are ready to apply material on surface to be painted. A bucket may be used instead of a roller pan. The surface must be smooth and even for roller application.
