SPECIAL REMARKS

To get the best results of this fine product, read carefully the following:

  1. When applying the first coat of D.G.K. PU 301 Sealer to any surface, it must penetrate into the surface to achieve the best sealing results. If D.G.K. PU 301 Sealer is not penetrating into the surface, then thin material 50% with D.G.K. Thinner 120 or Xylene (free of water and alcohol) to achieve the best sealing results. In case the sealer cannot penetrate into the surface after it has been thinned, then do not proceed using D.G.K. PU 301 Sealer.

  2. When the entire can of D.G.K. PU 301 Sealer is not to be used, pour the amount to be used into a clean can. Seal the can immediately and turn over for a few seconds in order to seal the can internally. In the event that you have left over Sealer. DO NOT pour back into the original can. Dispose of properly.

  3. The time between coats must be such that the previous coat does not dry, it must be tacky, so that additional coats will also penetrate into the surface.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface must be clean, smooth and dry; if previously finished, clean down to bare wood. A perfectly smooth, carefully sanded surface is essential for a successful finish. A porous surface must be clean and free of grease and completely dry.

SEALER AND PRESERVATIVE ABOVE AND BELOW WATER LINE

New or Stripped Wood: Recoat when first coat becomes tacky. And each coat thereafter must also be tacky. This will insure a solid bond between coats. Apply as many coats as needed to reach a sheen on the surface, at this point apply bottom primers or Marine Two Component Polyurethane Coating.

COATING DIFFERENT SURFACES

Masonry(Brick, Block and Stone): Waterproofing: Clean surface with a good detergent or cleaner, rinse with clear water several times, when dry, apply as many coats as needed to reach a low sheen on surface.

Concrete: Clean surface as needed, when dry, apply as many coats as needed to reach a low sheen on surface. Surface can now stay as is or D.G.K. Antiskid Coating or a Marine Two Component Polyurethane Coating can be applied.

D.G.K. Antiskid Coating: Use D.G.K. PU 301 Sealer as a pre-sealer when surface is porous or as a top sealer to prolong life of Antiskid, for easier cleaning and to achieve a sheen surface.

New Wood: Apply as many coats as needed to reach a sheen surface. At this point you can leave the wood as is, or you can apply a water base paint to prolong the life of this surface for many years.

APPLICATION

Apply using a brush, roller or by spraying, always use caution in handling, such as spray mask, eye protection, if needed, and protection for the skin. When a portion of a can is to be used, pour the amount needed into another can, seal up the D.G.K. PU301 Sealer can immediately, and then turn can upside down to seal internally. Do not pour D.G.K. PU301 Sealer back into original can. Apply as many coats as needed to achieve a completely sealed surface. Recoat in two hours in cold weather and 30 minutes in warm weather, avoid applying in direct sun. The time between coats must be such that the previous coating does not dry, so that the next coating can also penetrate into the surface. Once a sheen is reached, coating is now completed. We recommend using brush application for economical reasons.
